Exciting opportunity to join an international manufacturer of paints and coatings; our client leads the way in supplying sustainable coatings for a range of applications. The Technical Service & Sales Manager is responsible for all customer relationships in Northern Ireland & Eire for Industrial and Powder Coatings. This varied role provides technical support and development of new business opportunities with the support of the laboratory development team. A good knowledge of technical and application processes for industrial and powder coatings is essential - sales training can be provided.
Responsibilities:
Ensure regular and appropriate levels of technical support is provided to designated major accounts and their subcontractor’s.
Maintaining existing business volume and revenue and customer relationships and develop of new sales opportunities in the region.
Undertake regular audits of customer application processes providing detailed written reports to both the customer and the laboratory.
Support customers in ensuring they achieve the most effective use of materials with optimum plant / coatings set ups.
Provide rapid and effective problem solving / troubleshooting both on site at customers, and in conjunction with the laboratory.
Ensure that all technical complaints are effectively managed from the initial reporting of them through to resolution, providing the customer with a detailed response and route cause.
Work closely and in conjunction with the laboratory on the further development of existing coatings, and the introduction of potential new materials.
Provide commercial support in certain specified areas: material usage forecasts, monthly consignment stock returns etc.
Monitor and report any competitor activities seen.
Keep fully up to date with the latest advances in surface preparation, application equipment, and relevant plant systems.
Develop strong working relationships with key personnel within the application equipment supplier companies.
Provide the market manager with a detailed report on all technical matters, and relevant commercial issues effecting major accounts.
Candidate Profile:
Extensive knowledge of all coatings used, application processes employed throughout the UK’s industrial coatings market.
Ability to make rapid and sound technical judgements potentially under extreme pressure.
Ability to develop and sustain strong and close working relationships at all levels within the customers organisations.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively on technical matters both through written reports and verbally.
Computer literate in Microsoft Office.
Experience of working in a senior technical service role within the industrial coatings market.
Further develop application equipment and powder coating knowledge through time being spent with the equipment suppliers and our powder coat supplier
