Founded by Dr Laura Merritt with a PhD in Chemistry and a background spanning 20 years of international recruitment experience. The Merritt Recruitment Story

After 20 years in international recruitment, our founder Laura Merritt wanted to contribute to the industry through helping new graduates getting onto the career ladder and advising professionals to help them progress their career. Our industries are looking to attract new talent in all technical, commercial and operational disciplines, with our expertise we can adapt and innovate to address the challenges of regulatory change, environmental concern, sustainability and logistic efficiency.

New Team Member

Merritt Recruitment is delighted to welcome Jeremy Clarketo our team.Jeremy is an accomplished Senior Director of Business Development.His experience is in shaping and executing long-term strategic growth plans for businesses operating in highly competitive environments. Most recently Jeremy developed the European sales strategy for BioIVT, recruiting exceptional talent and leading the team to achieve significant revenue growth. Previously, he held commercial roles in both large corporate entities and small start-up companies driving commercial sales operations in the UK, Europe, Middle-East and Asia.Jeremy received his PhD from the University of Kentin Microbial Biochemistry and has developed his commercial experience selling capital equipment, research services and consumable goods in the chemistry, life science, pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

In spite of the downturn facing the Chemical industry due to Brexit and the fallout of the Covid pandemic, Merritt Recruitment is delighted to see that certain sectors are experiencing exceptional growth. We have seen a rise in demand for regulatory and commercial roles at all levels. As Covid restrictions have started to ease, we have seen an increase in Laboratory based roles. Laura Merritt is appointed as Secretary to the Royal Society Surface Coatings Special Interest Group. The new Merritt Recruitment website was launched in September 2021.

2020

With Merritt Recruitment’s reputation beginning to grow, we saw a greater diversity of roles which included SMEs, Universities and Global Organisations. We were also lucky enough to place a range of technical and commercial chemistry roles for house-hold names! Whilst Merritt Recruitment achieved enviable growth during the Covid pandemic, sadly the Surfex 2020 conference was cancelled, which was the year Laura was appointed as chairman. However, Laura was appointed to the editorial team of Surface Coatings International Journal to develop new look and content and was awarded a prestigious TABBIE award.

2019

Merritt Recruitment was established. We started by developing a database of screened candidates from our core industries, Chemical, Coatings, Polymers and Personal Care & Cosmetics. We began to build our reputation based on a quality service and secured many new clients and secured a range of roles. Our recruitment methodology is to use our fully GDPR compliant database and market-leading search tools.
