​Home Based – Managing UK customers

A leading UK distributor is looking for a Technical Sales Executive who will be responsible for delivering sales, in line with the company strategy, by actively managing existing accounts and target new accounts within the plastics and composite sector including automotive, film and packaging. The role will be primarily commercial (new business development) but with a significant amount of technical selling. A good technical understanding of epoxy and polyurethane technology and chemistry along with applications is essential for this role.

Dimensions

Responsible for a defined group of customers within the UK. As expected with such a role there will be extensive UK travel with the occasional overseas trips.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Identify customer requirements and provide technical solutions through the promotion of a range of products.

  • Develop and support business relationships with purchasing agents and laboratory personal based at manufacturing sites

  • Develop account plans and product launch tactics in line with business strategies, including Key Account Plans and sales literature

  • Provide accurate sales forecasts. Keep updated market intelligence in their area, including non-customers

  • Be the sales lead to manage customer complaints

  • Report customer interactions including commercial, marketing and technical information. Become the technical and commercial authority at customers

  • Liaise regularly with Principals and suppliers ensuring knowledge of supply, logistics and detailed knowledge of products.

  • Attendance of industry exhibitions, trade fairs and seminars.

Knowledge, experience and skills

  • A good technical understanding of epoxy and polyurethane technology and chemistry along with applications is essential for this role.

  • Commercial experience, ideally gained within a distribution environment with a chemistry, materials or engineering background.

  • Degree education preferred or equivalent industry experience.

  • Organizational and communication skills

  • Proficient applicator of commercial sales tactics, value selling and business strategy

  • UK driving licence

  • Right to work in the UK
