​Location – UK South, Home Office

Our client is a leading and long-established distributor of speciality chemicals and additives for a range of industries. They are seeking a Technical Sales Manager to join the Consumer Group sales team and lead sales in Functional & Industrial Applications. An extensive product range, representing well know manufacturers include surfactants, anti-foams, resins, pigments and additives.

Reporting to Business Line Manager, the Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for providing technical and commercial support to customers in southern England.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of key accounts by providing excellent commercial and technical awareness inc. relevant CRM updates/house-keeping etc.

  • Responsible for regular customer visits within the Southern territory (but sometimes other geographies where applicable) with prompt reporting

  • Development of current business by supporting growth through product portfolio and identifying new products for existing and new markets/applications

  • Responsible for working closely with the Company’s Principals, to provide highest levels of service and representation

  • Accurate reporting of sales figures and opportunity pipeline to senior management

  • Future opportunities to take on Product Management responsibilities

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience of selling to key industries (including but not exclusive to Metalworking Fluids, Lubricants & Greases, HI&I, Refractory/Ceramics, Paper and Adhesives & Sealants) ideally with a technical background within surfactant formulations/applications in particular. Ideally a graduate chemist, HND etc.

  • Strong commercial acumen with an ability to identify new business and margin growth opportunities. Ideally has worked within the chemicals distribution industry

  • Determined business developer who is able to identify opportunities and implement strategies to deliver results

  • Well organised and able to manage sales opportunity pipelines effectively

  • A confident, relationship seller who is able to build rapport with customers both within purchasing and technical departments and at various levels of organisations

  • Solution selling skills, able to make a connection between customer issues and the portfolio

  • Able to work collaboratively with Principals, internal stakeholders such as customer service and the senior leadership team

  • A proven performer who is able to deliver results

  • Right to work within the UK is essential and resident in Southern UK

  • Willingness to travel regularly in the UK, occasionally in Europe and Internationally for conferences and exhibitions.

  • UK driving licence is essential.
