Home based with regular visits to Oxford Offices

Our client is a fast-growing cleantech group for the application of chemistry and nanotechnology to enable novel material solutions, needed for a zero-carbon world. They supply nanomaterials and surface treatments to meet growing demand from the transport sector and is developing new applications in areas ranging from coatings, adhesives automotive, aerospace and composites.

In a newly created role, they are seeking an entrepreneurial Business Development Manager who will identify, and lead engagement with, commercial and joint development partners. With high profile clients onboard, you will develop new markets for nanomaterials and surface treatments in the areas of coatings, adhesives automotive, aerospace and composites.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the CEO and CTO, the Head of Business Development will work in a fast-paced team environment on a broad range of business development matters helping to build and maintain a strong customer portfolio, focusing selling products and services into the Automotive and Aerospace industry.

The Head of Business Development, Automotive and Aerospace will drive the creation of new customer relationships and expand OAS’s business development portfolio, including:

  • Develop a deep understanding of technology and products.

  • Identify and develop business development opportunities within relevant sectors focusing on the automotive and aerospace industries.

  • Identifying and building relationships with target contacts in the relevant sectors, converting leads into paying customers.

  • Providing project management support to designated business development programs, supporting our current customers whilst growing the business development stream.

  • Working closely with the R&D team to align strategic direction with technology opportunities.

  • Attend and present at external events such as trade fairs, conferences, and exhibitions.

Qualifications:

  • Proven business development or project management experience gained in a scientific or engineering technical product orientated arena.

  • Deep expertise in building beneficial long-term relationships with customers.

  • Significant customer-facing experience is essential.

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

  • A moderate technical understanding of the coatings/composite/materials industry is required whilst an engineering or chemistry background would be advantageous.

  • Strong ability to grasp technical information and implications quickly.

  • Excellent writing, analytical and communication skills.

  • Organized, independent and detailed oriented.
