 An exciting opportunity has arisen within their UK Technical Team for a Technical Lead to support both internal teams and external customers. This role is crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical service and product development, with a focus on colour and formulation within the coatings industry.

 Ideal candidates will bring a background in colour science or formulation of paints, inks, or coatings, and have a passion for innovation and customer collaboration.

 

Key Tasks

Technical Service: Provide expert technical support to customers, production teams, and the sales force, ensuring timely and effective resolution of enquiries.

Project Management: Collaborate closely with customers and the commercial team to drive new product development initiatives.

Formulation Development: Create and refine formulations for coatings, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring smooth transition to production.

Sales Support: Participate in product trials, deliver technical presentations, and provide hands-on support to the sales team during customer engagements.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical service and analysis to external (customers) and internal stakeholders (procurement, sales, CS, production, and other departments)

  • Respond and resolve technical enquiries quickly and effectively and follow up with sales to determine success

  • Investigate and resolve complaints and non-conformances, ensuring processes are followed and communication provided to all involved

  • Provide support to the sales team in the form of samples, product development, technical advice, reports, and competitor data

  • Attend customer meetings, both UK and further afield where necessary, to promote customer relationship management, investigate & resolve quality complaints, discuss technical enquiries, assist with customer trials and support the sales team with respect to potential new customers

  • Provide support and mentoring to fellow team members on site as required

  • Liaise with team members, management, and customers to ensure projects are completed to standard and deadline

  • Determine project requirements and develop work schedules to achieve these

  • Complete project, meeting and visit reports that are suitable for both internal and external customers

  • Provide support to production to ensure any technical issues are resolved resolutely

  • Build a network of contacts from suppliers to industry experts to ensure projects are completed to the best quality with the correct information

 

Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience within the paints, inks, or coatings industry is essential.

  • Strong understanding of colour science, colour matching or pigment dispersions is highly advantageous.

  • Demonstrated experience working with additives specific to paints, inks, or coatings.

  • Hands-on expertise in the formulation and testing of coatings products is desirable.

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

  • Confident presenter with the ability to clearly convey technical information to a variety of audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a professional and engaging communication style.

  • Candidates must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
