​Our client is an established UK manufacturer of a range of industrial paints and coatings, they are seeking an experienced Production Manager or Production Chemist to oversee the fast paced production of industrial paints and train and mentor apprentices. The ideal candidate will have broad experience in dispersion and milling equipment, colour matching and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Working in a production environment, this is a key role to ensure the timely manufacture of a range of industrial paints.

  • Measuring of raw materials, blending, mixing and utilizing horizontal and vertical basket bead mills for the production of paints in a environment.

  • Colour matching using instrumentation and by eye.

  • Ensure production efficiency and the production schedule is achieved to ensure fast delivery of orders.

  • Follow appropriate safety procedures and ensure a safe working environment, striving for zero recordable injuries in compliance with internal policies and external legislation.

  • Implement quality control procedures to ensure standards are met.

  • Mentor and train apprentices.

  • Liaise with customers and provide support.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience of production of paints is essential – ideally industrial paints. Must have hands on experience of dispersion and milling equipment.

  • Experience with viscosity measurements and testing of paints.

  • Experience of colour matching by eye and using instrumentation would be preferable.

  • Ability to lift heavy raw materials on a consistent basis

  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff.

  • Good numeracy and literacy are essential for this role.

  • Experience of producing safety data sheets and product data sheets will be of benefit.

  • Computer literacy is essential to build and maintain the formulation database.

  • You must have the right to work in the UK
