​Our client is a UK based specialty PVC plastisol manufacturer who also distribute raw materials and chemicals aligned to this sector. They are part of a wider industrial group. They are committed to innovation and sustainability and are proud to be a leader in their industry. As part of their growth plan, they have invested in upgraded laboratories and are expanding their R & D team to include an experienced Chemist with prior expertise in polyurethane dispersions to lead a program of product development in this area.

Experience in plastisols, acrylic resins or adjacent liquid dispersion technologies is also of interest. Our client has a dual site facility with both organic and waterborne manufacturing capability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new formulations and support of the existing liquid plastisol and acrylic dispersions QC and formulation development. The chemist will be responsible for analysing and testing products and providing technical support to customers and their production teams. Full training will be provided for the current liquid plastisol and dispersion systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new Polyurethane dispersion formulations to meet future customer and company requirements.

  • Evaluate the performance of dispersions in various applications

  • Support the development and optimization of other polymers including plastisol and acrylic water borne dispersions. Taking products from the laboratory to full scale manufacturing.

  • Provide technical support to quality control and troubleshooting for production and customer problems.

  • Analyze and characterize polymer dispersions using a range of techniques.

  • Provide technical support to customers and production teams, including troubleshooting and problem-solving.

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the company’s product sector.

  • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in the development and testing of liquid polymer products is essential.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or similar would be advantageous

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with a range of analytical techniques.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
