​LOCATION: Rochdale

Our client is a leading manufacturer of coatings for textiles, they specialise in textile finishing, coating and lamination with expertise in bleaching, dyeing, coating, lamination and powder point coating. They are seeking a Chemist / Technologist / Technician to support the Technical Manager in a range of activities including R &D, project management and process improvement. This is a varied and interesting role which you can make your own. Full training provided.

Scope:

  • Reporting to and working closely with the Technical Manager, this position will be responsible for planning and execution of a range of New Product Development, Process Improvement and Cost Reduction opportunities.

  • Working with customers, suppliers, and production, the Development Technologist will explore new product possibilities, seeing a portfolio of projects through from conception to completion.

Duties to include:

  • Working with customers to establish a project brief and deliverables

  • Assessing project feasibility and potential benefits

  • Creating, communicating and updating project timelines

  • Keeping full records of work done, results and conclusions

  • Giving regular progress updates to the business

  • Collaborating with suppliers to understand what technologies are available and which we should use in our developments.

  • Collaborating with suppliers to develop new technologies.

  • Carry out laboratory development work to determine next steps

  • Plan and carry out production trials on testing on development opportunities

  • Provide technical support and problem solving to PWG production

  • Some regular quality assurance testing duties will also be required

  • Provide cover for the Technical Manager

Skills / Attributes

  • Relevant Technical degree

  • Previous experience in laboratory work

  • Previous experience in factory trials desirable

  • Exposure to Coatings and Formulations desirable.

  • Project Management experience desirable

  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative

  • ‘Hands on’ approach

  • You must have the right to work in the UK - work permit sponsorship is not available
