​LOCATION: Home Based with visits to Manchester Office

Our client is a very well-established market leader, specialising in the supply of speciality chemicals & materials into the coatings, paints, adhesives, construction and related industry sectors. The business is long established and through a series of mergers and acquisitions is now part of a Group of companies. The business is poised for further growth in the UK and Europe, as it delivers on its organic and inorganic growth strategies which will further strengthen the business within its current and future markets.

They require an experienced Sales Executive / Sales Manager to manage sales of specialty chemicals to manufacturers in the UK: surface coatings, paints, adhesives and construction. You will have a Science Degree in Chemistry / Polymer Science / Material Science / Chemical Engineering with a few years in technical sales - full training on products & application will be provided. The expectation is that this role will grow to include Western Europe.

  • Essential role within the Commercial & Business Development activities of the company, a leader for business growth

  • Delivery of budgeted targets and KPI’s as set

  • Increase revenue, gross margin and number of trading customers

  • Determine with the SD a business plan and actions required for growth in gross profit, year on year and in line with budgeted targets

  • Representation of the company at relevant trade exhibitions and specific events

  • Proactively provide business development proposals, properly qualified and quantified.

  • Key relationship builder with customers, principals and colleagues

  • Work closely with Market Assistants, the BMS & QMS to ensure we meet customer and principal requirements and enhance service levels to both

  • Travel both within the UK and International will be required as part of this role

Job Role & Competencies

  • Qualified with a Science Degree in Chemistry / Polymer Science / Material Science / Chemical Engineering with a few years in technical sales ability to understand technical challenges

  • Experience within the sectors surface coatings, paints, adhesives and construction would be an advantage

  • Good communication and relationship building skills

  • Ability to utilise data and take relevant action

  • Focused on creating new business by networking and prospecting, whilst ensuring retention of business levels via repeat business

  • Fully understands and implements the sales cycle involved with technical sales, concentrating on areas of highest return for the business

  • Active working knowledge of the technologies relevant to the specified market sectors

  • Provide reforecast and financial data as part of the budgeting process

  • Ability to be a self-starter and work upon own initiative Full UK driving licence and willing to travel to customers throughout the UK

  • Have the right to work in the UK and currently be resident in the UK
