Exciting role for recent Chemistry, Material Science or Polymer Chemistry Graduates who wish to move into a commercial role encompassing sales & marketing and which requires technical knowledge of polymers. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. Your primary responsibility will be business development with new and existing customers across several industry areas. The role will involve significant UK travel as well as some international travel.

Our client is a long-established speciality chemicals distributor and represents leading chemical manufacturers from across Europe, the USA and Asia. They are part of the largest chemical distributor in the world and supply raw materials such as additives, pigments, minerals and catalysts into a wide range of industries in the UK including coatings, construction, polymers, cosmetics and agrochemicals.

Responsibilities:

  • Following an extensive technical and commercial training program, the role will involve:

  • Account management – maintaining and developing strong relationships with our existing customers, including responsibility for several industry groups, primarily in the field of polymers (thermoplastics, rubber, thermosets, composites)

  • Source new sales opportunities through responding to and qualifying inbound leads

  • Identify new business opportunities through prospecting and market research

  • Support the marketing strategy by producing engaging technical articles and multimedia for our website on a range of topics

Candidate requirements:

  • A 2:1 BSc or higher in Chemistry or related field, or equivalent industrial experience

  • A good knowledge of polymer science and chemistry is highly desirable

  • Commercial experience beneficial but not required and applicants are welcome who are seeking to transition from a lab-based role into sales

  • A natural problem solver, highly motivated and curious personality.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Must have a current right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available
