Our client is an established manufacturer and supplier of paints and coatings using both traditional and innovative technologies. They are seeking a highly skilled technical professional with a proven track record in problem-solving across formulation, production, commercial, and leadership. The ideal candidate should possess a several years of technical experience, preferably within the decorative coatings and demonstrate expertise in point of sale tinting systems. Leadership experience in various technical disciplines is a crucial requirement.
The successful candidate will assume responsibilities across multiple technical domains, including:
Research & Development (R&D): Overseeing a team of three chemists, this role involves providing support for production, driving new product development, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring quality control of colour collateral, and maintaining formulation standards.
Quality Assurance (QA): Managing one team member responsible for quality assurance and addressing legislative issues.
Technical Services: Taking charge of the business's technical response to complaints, encompassing both commercial and formulation aspects.
Colour Development: Leading initiatives to enhance colour consistency across all produced collateral, offering colour advice as needed.
Quality Control (QC): Ensuring the quality of paints leaving the business, monitoring plant hygiene, and implementing process improvements on the plant.
Technical - several years experience of paint formulation and production is essential. Background in colour and pigment dispersion is essential
Qualifications - a degree or equivalent industrial experience is preferable
Skills - leadership and mentoring, recruitment and training
Communication - excellent verbal and written skills,, confident communicator with customers
This position will initially report to the Technical Director, with the potential for advancement to the Technical Director role for a suitable candidate. Attractive salary is on offer.
