​LOCATION: Lab based in East Anglia

An exciting opportunity has opened for a talented and commercially focused chemist to join a global manufacturer and supplier of bespoke formulations. You will be specialising in New Business Development (NBD) and managing the NBD process from conception to first sales including understanding customer needs and developing suitable materials to maximise value. You will be expected to be able to present product performance to the customer work alongside the commercial team to support their value proposition.

Responsibilities

  • New Product Development in line with the company strategy to meet customer needs.

  • Drive to win new business in line with strategic direction of each business area: solution selling standard and bespoke materials.

  • Conduct standard and innovative scientific experiments and prove product viability.

  • Prepare product data and analytical reports sharing directly with internal teams and direct to customers.

  • Resolve customer issues by visiting customers with processing issues as a priority.

  • Conduct research using published literature, suppliers and conferences to maintain up to date information on key industry themes and trends.

  • Build a technical network to accelerate product development.

  • Drive newly developed products through the process and work with production and quality to establish new products as standard materials.

  • Ensure Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and compliance standards are met during all commercial and technical activity.

Key Skills

  • Degree in chemistry/polymer science/materials engineering or comparable experience.

  • Strong Analytical thinking.

  • Can work without supervision and provides technical guidance when required on:

    • Cultivation of innovation

    • Data Collection and Analysis

    • Action Planning & Organisation

    • Assessment of data from multiple sources to draw appropriate conclusions

  • Reporting and presentation skills both written and verbal.

  • Basic project management skills are beneficial with a minimum 2 years' experience.

  • Commercial acumen required to compliment new business understanding.

  • Right to work in the UK, sponsorship not available.

  • UK driving license and willing to travel to customer sites in UK.
