Our client is leading the way in sustainable solutions for the packaging industry, they have an exciting and diverse role within the R & D Team. Reporting to the Senior R&D Chemical Engineer, the R&D Laboratory Technician role will support the technical development of packaging products, including coating development. The individual is expected to undertake laboratory and analytical work to support projects and initiatives under the guidance of the Senior Chemical Engineer. Utilising their knowledge of laboratory processes and equipment, they will carry out experiments and support the Senior Chemical Engineer in project work, helping to conduct practical experiments and analysis to support project work.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake laboratory work as identified by the Senior Chemical Engineer.

  • Analysing and testing of samples to support projects.

  • Analysis of data and writing of reports.

  • Responsible for maintenance of laboratory and analytical equipment.

  • Work in-line with laboratory procedures and actively identify areas for improvement.

  • Implementation of COSHH and risk assessments for new chemicals and equipment.

  • Work in-line with Laboratory procedures and maintain a clean and safe working laboratory environment.

  • Identify and undertake necessary training in order to be able to carry out role effectively.

Candidate Requirements

  • The idea candidate will have a few years working in a laboratory environment in a technician role.

  • Industrial experience is essential, ideally in coatings/polymers.

  • Education – Minimum A-Level in a scientific area preferred.

  • Good attention to detail, computer literate with good communication skills.
