Our client is a leading international manufacturer specializing in polymer-based products, including paints, coatings, adhesives, road marking materials, plastics, and construction solutions. With expanding production facilities in Ireland, they are seeking an experienced Production Chemist to join their dynamic team and play a pivotal role in product development, quality control, and production support.
This is a wide-ranging and hands-on role, ideal for a technologist with a passion for innovation and leadership. You will manage a small team and contribute to new product development (NPD), quality control (QC), and production processes. Your work will directly influence product performance, cost efficiency, and market expansion.
Responsibilities:
Team Management and Leadership
Manage a small team and actively participate in the management team.
Provide technical advice to the production team to ensure the highest quality final product.
Involve in continuous improvement initiatives and participate in defect investigation and root cause analysis.
Quality Control and Product Development
Support quality control of existing and new products on-site.
Modify existing products, primarily cold plastics, with some hot plastics, to suit new markets and countries.
Develop new products and support the global sales of all our products.
Monitor and control the production process through in-process checks and monitoring.
Customer Relations and Support
Address customer problems and travel to customer sites to help rectify issues.
Conduct new product evaluations, testing, and optimization.
Perform on-site demonstrations as required.
Field Trials and Supplier Coordination
Conduct new product road trials with local authorities and certifying bodies.
Meet with raw material suppliers to evaluate new materials.
Engage in site testing and development of our products.
Sustainability and Innovation
Design and bring new products to market within contracting division.
Support and advise on matters of sustainability.
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications: Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Material Science or a related discipline.
Knowledge or qualification in polymers, paint, plastic, adhesives, coatings or related area.
Experience in reducing production costs.
Ability to work with dual liquid components.
Ideally trained in Colour Development and Lean Product Management.
Experience or interest in mechanical engineering.
You must have the right to work in Ireland, sponsorship is not available
