Location: West Riding, Yorkshire

Our client is part of an international manufacturing organisation, they lead the market in developing inks and related products for the textile industry. They are looking for an experienced Technician / Chemist to innovate new technology and formulate water based inks. This is a varied and exciting role involving close collaboration with high profile clients and managing NPD projects from concept to launch.

Although it is a lab-based role it will involve close contact with customers and suppliers both via email, phone and in face to face meetings making it a very rewarding role. They are looking for someone who is hungry to learn, driven and who thrives on finding ways around technical hurdles. Innovation is at the heart of they do so you must be passionate about developing new things. You must be equally comfortable working independently on projects as well as working as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new products to give sustainable competitive advantage to the client

  • Investigate and implement new formulations and cost saving projects

  • Print new formulations in our applications laboratory then conduct customer wash tests, rub fastness and light fastness testing.

  • Keep development worksheets up to date and report progress in internal review meetings.

  • Carry out studies of competitor products and present ideas for new product development and benchmark current formulations.

  • Supervise scale up trials of new product formulations working closely with mixing operatives.

  • Produce lab samples for customer evaluation.

  • Liaise with suppliers to source and evaluate potential new raw materials.

Competencies, Qualification & Experience Required

  • Educated to degree level with Chemistry or similarly related BSc

  • Familiarity with MS Office (Word and Excel) is essential

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a product development role

  • Work independently under own initiative at times

  • Excellent organisational skills and be able to cope with a workload with competing priorities

  • Logical thinker and an inquiring mind

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to deliver multiple projects within set timescales
