UK manufacturer is looking for a Polymer Chemist to carry out synthesis of acrylate emulsion polymers, formulation and testing of adhesives. Working as part of a team, you will drive projects and take responsibility for production scale up. The successful candidate will have experience of polymer synthesis and application knowledge of adhesives and coatings.
Key tasks
To carry out synthesis reactions of acrylate emulsion polymers and application testing of pressure sensitive adhesives.
To be responsible for managing various short-term applications and development projects.
Supporting the scale-up of new products and providing production support when needed.
Principal Accountabilities
Carry out synthesis reactions of water-based acrylate polymers.
Planning & managing various product development projects.
Provide technical support to production.
Testing of in-process and finished product samples to ensure they meet the customer’s specification.
Candidate Profile
Knowledge of Acrylic polymer chemistry or adhesives would be highly preferred.
Experience of using test equipment for analysing & measuring products characteristics; for example particle size measurements, GC and HPLC.
Experience in wet chemistry testing of products to parameters such as viscosity, solids content and pH.
Good project management skills.
Awareness of COSHH regulations and responsibility for providing MSDS on products.
