LOCATION: Staffordshire - Office Based
Exciting role for recent Chemistry , Material Science and Polymer Chemistry Graduates who wish to move into a commercial role encompassing sales & marketing and which requires technical knowledge of polymers. Full training and mentoring is available working within a friendly sales team based in the Staffordshire office.
Our client is successful, specialist chemical distribution company with a diverse portfolio of specialty chemicals and additives. They have an excellent training scheme and are looking for an ambitious, highly motivated Chemistry or Materials Science graduate with an affinity for polymeric materials to join their team in a sales role. The role will be internal sales, with the intention to develop into a fully-fledged sales manager position within a foreseeable time frame.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and will be responsible for developing business with new and existing customers across several industry areas, predominantly in thermoplastics and thermosets. The role will also entail marketing duties to support the overall marketing strategy, including writing engaging technical articles for the website.
Responsibilities:
Following an extensive technical and commercial training programme, the role will involve:
Account management – maintaining and developing strong relationships with our existing customers, including responsibility for several industry groups, primarily in the fields of thermoplastics and thermosets
Source new sales opportunities through responding to and qualifying inbound leads
Route qualified leads to technical sales managers for further development and closure if necessary April 2022 • Identify new business opportunities through prospecting and market research
As part of the wider marketing strategy and training, produce engaging technical articles and multimedia on a range of topics
Candidate requirements:
A 2:1 BSc or higher in Chemistry or related field, or relevant industrial experience
An affinity for polymer science and chemistry is desirable
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Prior copywriting or marketing experience is desirable but not essential
Full UK driving licence
The successful candidate will receive extensive training and will benefit from an attractive salary and benefits package including 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Initially primarily office-based, the role will develop into a sales manager role involving both UK and International travel and the opportunity to work with some of the leading names in the chemical industry.
