Our client is a growing, independent manufacturer of solvent and water-based adhesives, supplying a wide range of industries across the UK and internationally. They are seeking a technically skilled and customer-focused Customer Support Chemist who will provide expert support to customers regarding our adhesive products, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in adhesives or related materials, and excellent customer facing skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to customers via phone, email, and on-site visits regarding product selection, application, and troubleshooting.

  • Reformulate existing products to improve performance.

  • Sourcing and cost analysis of new materials.

  • Collaborate with quality team to resolve customer complaints and product performance issues.

  • Conduct product testing and analysis to support customer inquiries and internal investigations.

  • Assist in the development of technical documentation, including datasheets, labelling, application guides, and FAQs.

  • Deliver training sessions and product demonstrations to customers and internal teams.

  • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, technical issues, and resolutions.

  • Support the sales team with technical expertise during customer meetings and presentations.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, competitor products, and new technologies.

Candidate Profile:

  • Several years in polymer based products, ideally solvent based adhesives. Coating, paint, varnish and ink experience will be considered.

  • PVC, PVA or polyurethane technology advantageous.

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing technical role is preferred.

  • Familiarity with quality systems, HSE and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent communication and strong problem-solving skills.

  • Positive attitude and flexible to move with changing business requirements.

  • Driving licence is essential due to location of rural site.

  • Must have the right to work in the UK, sponsorship is not available.

  • Fluent written and spoken English.
