Home-based with frequent UK and overseas travel

An exciting career opportunity has emerged within a global distributor of specialty chemicals. As they continue to expand their footprint across the lubricants and energy sectors, the business is seeking a proactive Account Manager to champion business growth and develop key accounts. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving technical environment and wants to combine commercial drive with deep product knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of major accounts across the lubricants, industrial chemicals, and wider energy landscape.

  • Grow revenue by engaging with existing customers, identifying new opportunities, and promotion of new and existing formulations.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to leverage technical, marketing, and operational expertise for customer success.

  • Manage the full commercial cycle from sample coordination and opportunity tracking to proposals, pricing updates, and performance reviews.

  • Regular travel for face-to-face customer visits

  • Analyse business performance to pinpoint gaps, emerging trends, and strategic market directions.

  • Conduct market research and customer segmentation to support focused cross-selling and maximise sales.

  • Work with the UK Marketing & Communications team to activate product launches, campaigns, and promotional initiatives.

  • Possess a technical understanding of an extensive portfolio of lubricant additives, performance fluids, and industrial chemical solutions, and attend training to continue to develop this knowledge.

  • Maintain accurate data records, supporting smooth operations across the wider Industrials business.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A commercially minded professional with experience in the industrial, lubricants, or energy-related sectors.

  • Someone with a scientific degree or equivalent industry experience who can translate technical concepts into commercial value.

  • A motivated, resilient individual who enjoys chasing growth targets and excels when presented with challenges.

  • Highly analytical, confident using data to shape strategy, and comfortable presenting insights to small groups or large audiences.

  • Able to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines under pressure, and work with colleagues across different teams.

  • A strong communicator who builds trust quickly and can drive customer engagement at every level.

  • UK driving license required
