Our client is a successful manufacturer of epoxy resins and polyurethane coatings and flooring who are seeking a dedicated R&D Chemist for a product development role. This position involves developing innovative resin products, including protective coatings, and conducting thorough testing of new and existing products. As an R&D Chemist, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of new industrial repair and protection products, from concept to market launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and formulate new resin products.

  • Test and trial new and existing products.

  • Design and develop new industrial repair and protection products.

  • Verify product performance using various testing methods.

  • Involve in the scale-up process.

  • Prepare supporting documentation and literature for market release.

Candidate Profile:

  • Background and qualification in a scientific area, preferably chemistry or polymer science.

  • Formulation and product development experience with a proven track record of innovation and success in a research and development role.

  • Previous laboratory experience in a formulating role within a relevant discipline (e.g., paints, coatings, composites, sealants, and adhesives).

  • Strong practical and hands-on skills.

  • Self-motivated, logical thinker with the ability to problem solve.

  • Confident communicator and team player with good organizational skills.

  • Understanding of polymer chemistry used in industrial coatings and repair materials (e.g., epoxy, polyurethane, polyaspartics).

  • Practical knowledge and experience in corrosion prevention and the use of coatings and repair composites.

  • Thorough knowledge of conformity testing (e.g., CE and UKCA marking) to all relevant standards.

  • Familiarity with coating and composite testing techniques (e.g., immersion resistance, adhesion, mechanical strength, heat resistance).

  • Must have the right to work in the UK, sponsorship is not available.
