Our client is a well-established manufacturer of liquid polymer compounds, supplying a broad range of industries with high-performance materials including latex compounds, prepolymers, adhesives, and plastisols. With a strong emphasis on technical excellence, innovation, and customer partnership, the business continues to expand its market presence. They are now seeking a Technical Service / Sales Representative to support and grow their customer base within the latex compounding sector. This is a hybrid technical-commercial role, combining hands-on technical support with account management and business development responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers and stakeholders
Conduct regular customer visits, business reviews, and follow-ups to ensure high levels of satisfaction
Provide technical product knowledge, troubleshooting, and application support
Work closely with internal technical, R&D, and operations teams to resolve complex customer challenges
Support customers with plant trials, equipment modifications, and product implementation
Prepare and deliver product proposals, quotations, and technical presentations
Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements in line with company guidelines
Manage commercial aspects of accounts, including pricing, budgeting, and credit considerations
Identify, qualify, and convert new business opportunities within the latex compounding market
Act as the voice of the customer, contributing to new product development and continuous improvement initiatives
Candidate Profile
Degree qualified in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related scientific discipline
Significant experience in technical service within latex compounding (typically 5+ years)
Experience supporting industries such as flooring (e.g. carpet backing or underlay) is advantageous
Demonstrated commercial or sales experience within the chemicals or polymer sector
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build lasting customer relationships
Commercial awareness, including pricing, costing, and margin management
Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office
Proactive, results-driven approach with strong problem-solving skills
Willingness to travel extensively (50%+), primarily within the UK with some EU travel
MUST have the right to work in the UK and a full UK driving licence. Sponsorship is not available.
