Our client is a well-established manufacturer of liquid polymer compounds, supplying a diverse range of industries with high-performance materials including latex compounds, prepolymers, adhesives, and plastisols. With a strong focus on innovation, technical excellence, and customer satisfaction, the business continues to grow its presence within the market.
As part of this growth, they are seeking an experienced Technical Service / Development Chemist to support their latex product range. This is a dynamic, customer-facing role combining technical service and product development responsibilities, offering the opportunity to work closely with commercial, operational, and customer teams.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary technical contact for customer enquiries, product issues, and application challenges
Provide on-site technical support through customer visits, plant trials, product demonstrations, and presentations
Collaborate with commercial teams to support customer retention and new business development
Develop new formulations and modify existing products to meet customer, regulatory, and performance requirements
Conduct raw material evaluations and support formulation improvements
Assist operations with process issues, continuous improvement initiatives, and scale-up from laboratory to production
Prepare and supply customer samples as required
Investigate customer complaints and carry out root-cause analysis
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders
Support the preparation and maintenance of COSHH assessments
Work collaboratively across teams to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service delivery
Candidate Profile
Degree qualified in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related scientific discipline
Proven experience in technical service within latex compounding (typically 5+ years)
Experience in technical development within latex formulations
Industry experience in sectors such as flooring (e.g. carpet backing or underlay) is advantageous
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers and internal teams
Organised and able to manage multiple priorities independently
Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office
Proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem solving
Willingness to travel for customer visits (approximately 20–30%, primarily UK with occasional EU travel)
MUST have the right to work in the UK and a full UK driving licence. Sponsorship is not available.
