​Our client is a leading manufacturer of polymers with several UK and international sites, they provide solutions for a global customer base through innovation. To support their growth plan, they are seeking an experienced General Manager with a strong production background, ideally with experience of chemical and polymer production.

This wide-ranging role, will take responsibility for one UK site and all the operations associated with the manufacture of chemicals. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting to the CEO, you will be part of the senior leadership team and will contribute to the strategic business plans and growth of the company.

  • Management of one manufacturing site – responsible for all aspects of operations including management of the staff on site, production, logistics, research, equipment, quality control, sales, purchasing and HSE regulatory requirements.

  • Recruitment, mentoring and development of operations staff.

  • Production – all aspects of HSE, purchasing & invoicing, maintenance and purchasing of equipment, management of shift rota, QC department, warehousing, packaging & shipping internationally.

  • Liaison with customers, providing information on product delivery and technical support.

  • Working closely with the R & D and Commercial teams to ensure new products are introduced into production in a timely manner.

Candidate Profile

  • Several years in production management / operation management roles

  • Experience of the manufacture of polymers or organic chemicals would be of benefit. Engineering experience will be considered.

  • Leadership skills with experience of managing multi-skilled colleagues.

  • Proven record in problem solving with a hands-on approach.

  • Excellent communication skills with a professional outlook.

  • UK driving license and willingness to travel in the UK and Internationally to other sites and customers.

  • You must have the right to work in the UK – sponsorship is not available.
