Our client is a leading manufacturer of polymers with several UK and international sites, they provide solutions for a global customer base through innovation. To support their growth plan, they are seeking an experienced General Manager with a strong production background, ideally with experience of chemical and polymer production.
This wide-ranging role, will take responsibility for one UK site and all the operations associated with the manufacture of chemicals. Key responsibilities will include:
Reporting to the CEO, you will be part of the senior leadership team and will contribute to the strategic business plans and growth of the company.
Management of one manufacturing site – responsible for all aspects of operations including management of the staff on site, production, logistics, research, equipment, quality control, sales, purchasing and HSE regulatory requirements.
Recruitment, mentoring and development of operations staff.
Production – all aspects of HSE, purchasing & invoicing, maintenance and purchasing of equipment, management of shift rota, QC department, warehousing, packaging & shipping internationally.
Liaison with customers, providing information on product delivery and technical support.
Working closely with the R & D and Commercial teams to ensure new products are introduced into production in a timely manner.
Candidate Profile
Several years in production management / operation management roles
Experience of the manufacture of polymers or organic chemicals would be of benefit. Engineering experience will be considered.
Leadership skills with experience of managing multi-skilled colleagues.
Proven record in problem solving with a hands-on approach.
Excellent communication skills with a professional outlook.
UK driving license and willingness to travel in the UK and Internationally to other sites and customers.
